EXPERIENCE
OVERVIEW

Harbourside residential transformation at Lavender Street, Milsons Point, with refurbished architecture, facade and interiors.

Blue at Lavender Bay is recorded in the supplied PTW capability material as a residential transformation for Aqualand on Goruagal Country at 61 Lavender Street, Milsons Point, Sydney, NSW, Australia.

The site is located on the harbourside of Lavender Bay, adjacent to the villages of Kirribilli and McMahons Point. PTW undertook the refurbishment of the architecture floorplans and facade, providing an innovative design that reflects the desirable harbourside location and the anticipated user groups.

The theme was established as Blue to reflect the harbour setting. The design team developed options including Sublime Canvas, Bohemian Rhapsody, Deco Refresh and Bay Bespoke, incorporating aspects of historic and cultural context. Three of these options were developed through a combination of materials and detail to create rich, sensory palettes.

The transformation delivered 125 apartments, including one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, sub-penthouses and penthouses. The work reimagined the facade while preserving the original structure, using curved glass wintergardens and balconies, slim horizontal steel structures, balustrades and fritted glass screens to add lightness and reduce the bulk of the original commercial facade.

The podium engages Lavender and Cliff Streets at a more human scale, connecting residents with communal spaces and a library. Interior design introduces casual, refined luxury with stone, timber and brass trims, drawing from the harbourside mood near Sydney Harbour Bridge and North Sydney Pool.

Recognition listed in the source material includes UDIA NSW and Coronation Awards for Excellence - Urban Renewal commendation, Property Council Innovation and Excellence Awards - Best Residential Development, CTBUH Award of Excellence in the Repositioning category, UDIA NSW Crown Group Awards for Excellence - Excellence in High Density Development commendation, Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Awards for High Density Residential Development, and The Urban Developer Awards finalist recognition.
