EXPERIENCE
OVERVIEW

Student accommodation on Anzac Parade, Kingsford, shaped around a sculptural form, heritage context, rooftop gardens and contemporary student living.

Scape Student Accommodation, Kingsford is recorded in the supplied PTW capability material as a student accommodation project for Scape at 391-397A Anzac Parade and 17 Bunnerong Road, Kingsford, Sydney, NSW, Australia.

The project is recorded as a Kingsford Design Excellence Competition winner. Located in a prime position adjacent to the light rail station along the Anzac Parade corridor, PTW's vision for Scape Kingsford captured the energy and vibrancy of Anzac Parade, drew inspiration from the surrounding heritage context, and was defined by a strong confident sculptural form. Scape Kingsford is part of a collective called KEKI, one of five buildings offering student accommodation in the Kensington to Kingsford corridor.

Offering 381 fully furnished residences designed for modern students, the 15-storey building reflects the rapidly evolving character of the Kingsford area. The design solution responds to the richness and materiality of nearby historic buildings through careful use of brickwork, facade filigree and greenery while incorporating a sophisticated contemporary expression.

As a 5 Star Green Star project, the design emphasised innovative approaches to minimising heat island effect, maximising carbon reduction, and delivering energy-saving solutions across the building lifespan. A green entry into the curtain wall facade was incorporated to help manage heat load, air quality and the building's visual connection to its surroundings. PTW worked closely with the facade engineer to design a unified system integrating planters, associated drainage, automated watering systems, weather protection and thermal performance within a modularised curtain wall panel system.

Scape Kingsford provides security and community for students living remotely from their families, with colourful common spaces, rooftop gardens, entertaining pavilions and study zones.
