EXPERIENCE
OVERVIEW

Three-building residential and social housing development at West Parade, West Ryde, for Billbergia on land owned by NSW Land and Housing Corporation.

The Parade is recorded in the supplied PTW capability material as a residential and social housing project at Wallumedegal Country, 63-77 West Parade, West Ryde, NSW, Australia.

Billbergia engaged PTW to design a mix of social housing and private homes on land owned by NSW Land and Housing Corporation. Located within 300 m of West Ryde train station, the three buildings range from six to eleven storeys and include Building A with six storeys and 30 social housing apartments, Building B with nine storeys and 57 private housing apartments, and Building C with eleven storeys and 63 private housing apartments.

The Parade includes three buildings, each composed of cubic brick bases of six storeys along the street edge, providing an anchoring element to each building. These brick bases support taller but set-back curved forms, each with pronounced rounded horizontals reminiscent of rail movement on the adjacent tracks. Along the railway, the composition is vertically split into contrasting brick and curved paired elements.

The interiors were designed to create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, maximising living and dining options for residents.
